  • Legal entitlement to study in New Zealand with appropriate immigration and/or refugee status, and;
  • When English is not the first language of the student an academic score of  5.5 with no band score lower than 5.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The New Zealand Diploma in Christian Studies (Level 5) Christian Leadership Strand encourages the development of ministry leadership through practical, hands-on ministry experience in one of our partner colleges. This allows students to build character, competence, and capability personally, spiritually and professionally. Students learn to flourish in the challenging context of contemporary church while building their faith.

 

Graduate Profile Outcomes met include:

  • Evaluate and apply a broad understanding of theology and biblical foundations to defined contexts based on textual interpretation and religious practice.
  • Apply key Christian leadership principles to facilitate team development and accomplish organisational goals in particular areas of responsibility in Christian ministry.
  • Evaluate a ministry programme based on strategies that integrate personal and community faith journeys, and the social, cultural and other contextual considerations of defined groups.

The Internship Strand is composed of four courses and two internships and is ideal for students who want to become a minister in NZ. Students are required to complete:

Christian Foundations (an overview of systematic theology)

This course aims to introduce learners to the core doctrines of Christian theology and the influences these have on the contemporary Christian worldview.

Spiritual Growth and Discipleship (exploration of faith and spirituality in the church)

This course aims to introduce spiritual disciplines, spiritual growth, and discipleship with importance placed on personal development and the Christian community.

Introduction to Ministry (an overview of contemporary ministry and challenges)

This course aims to introduce learners to the practice of ministry in terms of biblical and historical foundations.

Introduction to the Bible (a survey of the old and new testaments)

This course aims to introduce learners to the overarching narrative of the Bible and the way in which this forms the basis of a contemporary Christian worldview.
